Equality for all
We are committed to embedding equality and diversity in everything that we do. This means that we work hard to ensure that no one is discriminated against in any way for any reason or treated less favorably because of their gender, race, level of ability, transgender, age, sexuality or religion, belief or any other reason. It also means that we will actively tackle other barriers to fair access including social or financial reasons.
Single Equality Scheme
This is a key document as it outlines our approach to promote equality and eliminate discrimination for all and will help us to understand and address the different needs of our customers and employees.
It sets out our commitment to diversity and equality and includes an action plan for the period of April 2011 to March 2014.
To find out more about our equality and diversity practices please take a look at our related documents.
Changes in Law
In line with the law, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) formed in October 2007, bringing together the Equal Opportunities Commission (for gender equality), the Commission for Racial Equality and the Disability Rights Commission. The EHRC considers all elements of equality, including age, sexual orientation, religion or belief and transgender.
A Proactive Approach
We are taking a proactive approach to these national changes, as this Single Equality Scheme streamlines our existing Race, Disability and Gender Equality Schemes (currently required by law) as well as incorporating the wider equality agenda.
At MHO we are committed to the promotion of equality. We believe all of our customers should have access to our services and that our staff should all benefit from appropriate training and development. No customer or staff member should experience the barriers of discrimination or harassment due to their personal characteristics.
We take all equality issues seriously and we aim to build equality into the culture of Metropolitan Home Ownership and everything we do.
