Ashleigh goes back to her roots

The need to be closer to family is one of the most popular reasons for moving but finding the right home is often a big challenge. Ashleigh Fitzhugh recently bought her new home in the Upton Square development in Northamptonshire and explains how the move has not only brought her back to her roots, but also provides her with a property which is good value for money and suits her lifestyle.

With many Londoners being priced out of the housing market more and more people are looking to buy outside of the city. The Upton Square development in Northamptonshire is an example of how buyers can get more for their money and as new resident Ashleigh Fitzhugh explains, stands out for its spacious properties, excellent transport links and surrounding green spaces.

Ashleigh is 44 years old and works as a park homes surveyor which involves carrying out structural surveys on mobile homes.  The nature of the job requires her to travel long distances and with its close proximity to the M1 and the ability to reach London by train in under an hour, Upton fits the bill. But there was also a more personal reason for why Ashleigh bought her 2-bedroom apartment in Upton as she is originally from the area and wanted to go back to her roots.

Ashleigh said: “I was looking to move from where I was living in Rugby to be closer to my family. I wanted to be in a village that was semi rural but had access to everything I needed. I was looking for two years but nothing caught my eye until I came across the development at Upton.”
In fact it was just by chance that Ashleigh took a drive to Upton one afternoon last October and came across Metropolitan’s sales office.

“The whole process was amazing”, Ashleigh recalled, “I was taken to view three different properties at the scheme which were all really nice but varied in size and where they were located on the development. What stood out to me about the apartment I chose was how spacious it was, the fact it was on a corner plot and had a balcony and that the master bedroom had an ensuite. I was immediately impressed and put down the £500 deposit that day.”

Ashleigh paid £131,000 for her 2-bed apartment and feels it presents good value for money. She commented: “No one can believe what I paid for the place and my visitors are quite surprised when I tell them. The property really is incredibly good value.”

Ashleigh is thrilled that there is enough space for her 13 and 17 year old daughters to stay with her and that they even have the use of their own bathroom. There is also a large kitchen with modern specifications and open plan access to the lounge, making it a convenient and sociable set up.

Upton is extremely well located for Ashleigh as junction 15A of the M1 and junction 16 of the M1 are approximately 3 miles away providing links for the M40, M6 and A14. Castle Street train station is approximately 3 miles into Northampton, providing a frequent service to London Euston and Birmingham. There is also the advantage of having shops and other amenities close by but also being within walking distance of green open spaces.

Ashleigh explains how Upton suits her lifestyle saying: “I have everything I need at Upton as the transport links are excellent and there are supermarkets close by. I love walking and it doesn’t take me long to reach green spaces and canal walks that go on for miles. There are a number of pubs in the area as well as popular spots, such as picturesque Stoke Bruerne, a short distance away.”

“I’m really happy here,” she added, “I came into the apartment when it was just finished and on the first night I moved in I knew it was right for me and settled in right away. The size works well as I’m on my own most of the time but it’s spacious enough for when my children come to stay.”

Commenting on the service provided by Metropolitan Ashleigh said:

“Everything went so smoothly and I don’t have any complaints. The sales team are really on the ball and I developed a good relationship with them. I am generally really pleased with the service I received from Metropolitan and my new home at Upton.”
