" I decided to look at shared ownership schemes whilst I was living with a friend. At my age it was time to gain that independance by buying a place.
The deposit required on the open market was too much and I didn't have enough money saved up, it would of taken about 5 to 10 years and that's why I went for a shared ownership scheme."

"So I registered in 2004 with Metropolitan Home Ownership, they started to send me brochures and information about developments they had. I went to see the development in September, which I very much liked, the first development they showed me, I liked it so much I bought one of the flats.
The process was very straight forward from start to finish it was pretty much 3 months. I bought 30%, Metropolitan they own 70%.
You're able to decorate yourself, you can decide what colour scheme you want and the independance that it gives you is very thrilling."
