Metropolitan celebrates being recognised in two separate awards

27 July 2012

Metropolitan is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted in two prestigious awards – the European Diversity Awards and the Sustainable Housing Awards 2012, organized by Inside Housing and its sister publication Sustainable Housing.

Metropolitan’s groundbreaking work in the area of sustainability has been recognised as it has been shortlisted for the ‘Social Housing Provider of the Year – Corporate Sustainability’ category in the Sustainable Housing Awards 2012. For this category, organisations were required to demonstrate evidence of having a clear corporate sustainability strategy and challenging targets, how they have reduced the organisation’s energy consumption and the work they are doing to create and maintain sustainable communities.

The Sustainable Housing Awards focuses on the best “green” social housing projects in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a suitably “eco” awards ceremony on Friday 19 October at the Hilton Hotel on London’s Park Lane.

Metropolitan is also extremely proud that its Vital Link scheme, which supports people living with mental health problems, has been shortlisted for the ‘Community Project of the Year Award’ in the European Diversity Awards. Based in the London Borough of Lambeth, Vital Link aims to radically improve adult mental health services in the area and the experiences of people with long-term mental illness. The winner will be announced on 20 September at the Savoy Hotel, London.
