Over one thousand Londoners looking to find out more about their low cost home ownership and renting options flocked to the Homematch Property Show 2015 held at London’s Hotel Russell on Saturday.

The event, organised by the home ownership team at Metropolitan, one of the country’s leading housing associations, was organised to help prospective home buyers find out more about Shared Ownership and other intermediate (less than market cost) housing options, as well to offer details on the financial and legal side of home ownership, from a range of specialist housing providers, solicitors and independent financial advisors.

Qammer Hussain, Head of Property Sales and Marketing at Newlon Home Ownership, who exhibited at the event to promote homes available across a number of north London developments said:

“We’re really pleased with the day. It was busier than we’d expected and the interest for shared ownership across north London and our intermediate rent homes in Haringey has been strong. We've spoken to lots of eligible home seekers from the areas around our current schemes, particularly Rivers Apartments in Tottenham, Watermill Lane, Enfield and John Cameron Court in Tottenham. It’s good that Homematch organise these events as they provide a good quality opportunity for Londoners to seek advice and take a step closer to buying a home affordably.”

Homematch, a free service from Metropolitan, offers Londoners information and a route to applying for homes to own and rent affordably from a range of housing providers working in the capital. The service provides a property search website at www.homematch.org.uk, a customer advice line 0845 230 8099, and organises property shows which provide an opportunity to attend presentations, get one to one housing advice and which match home seekers to homes that they might be eligible to buy or rent.

Colin McLennon, Head of Home Ownership Services at Metropolitan explains:

“Shared Ownership and other low cost home ownership and renting options are becoming increasingly sought-after as house prices continue to rise. Through Homematch, we hope to match as many Londoners who would otherwise be priced out to as many homes from the housing providers that we work with as we can. We’re delighted that so many people attended the show and look forward to hearing how their home search progresses as a result.”

One home seeker who attended the show said:

“My income has increased in recent years, but I’ve still struggled to save for a deposit. Because these low cost home ownership schemes mean you don’t need to put down such a large deposit, I’ve found out that I am now in a position where I can afford to buy a place of my own, which I’m going to do this year - which is really exciting.”

For those who weren’t able to attend the show, Homematch are planning future events, details will be posted onto www.homematch.org.uk where you can register free to use the service and receive future event information updates.

The Homematch Property Show 2015 was sponsored by de Havilland Group Ltd. and First Time Buyer Magazine.
