How the Homematch Property Show made a difference for home seekers last weekend...
In a week when the Office for National Statistics reported
average house prices in London as reaching over £493,000, almost one thousand Londoners
looking to find out more about their affordable home ownership and renting
options attended the Homematch Property Show 2015 held at London’s Hotel
Russell on Saturday, June 20.
The event, organised by the home ownership team at
Metropolitan, one of the country’s leading housing associations, was organised
to help prospective first-time buyers to find out more about Shared Ownership,
Help to Buy and other intermediate (less than market cost) housing options, as
well to offer details on the financial and legal side of home ownership, from a
range of specialist housing providers, solicitors and independent financial
The event, which is Homematch’s second major exhibition this
year and was sponsored by Newlon Home Ownership, First Time Buyer Magazine and
De Havilland Group financial advisors, also featured exhibitors ranging from an
affordable furniture company to Experian – who provided credit scoring advice
to support customers in preparing themselves for a mortgage application.
Presentations ran throughout the day offering headline
information about the low cost home ownership options currently available,
along with expert advice on preparing your credit history and applying for a

I’ve signed up with a few agencies but they’re all online - I’d never had the opportunity to meet with
people face-to-face who can guide you... So that’s the reason why I’m here.”

Homematch, a free service from Metropolitan, offers
Londoners information and a route to applying for homes to own and rent
affordably from a range of housing providers working in the capital and the
London commuter belt. The service provides a property search website at
www.homematch.org.uk, a customer advice line 0845 230 8099, and organises
property shows which provide an opportunity to attend presentations, get
one-to-one housing advice and which match home seekers to homes that they might
be eligible to buy or rent.
