Metropolitan has launched a research project into the housing sector’s role in creating greater social value – beyond putting a roof over people’s heads.
Housing associations have a strong tradition of providing access to jobs and training and fostering cohesion in the communities they work in but beyond that what more should the housing sector be doing – how can housing associations provide greater social value?
The project, Beyond Bricks and Mortar, will look at how housing providers:
- Provide access to employment, volunteering and training
- Provide access to affordable home ownership
- Support people to remain independent through targeted care and support services
- Make best use of social housing to help people in greatest need
We are gathering evidence from a wide range of organisations and individuals and are looking to find examples of best practice and opportunities for doing more.
To inform the project we have put together a short survey and welcome views from anyone with experience of the housing and care and support sectors. Click here to take part.
We’ll report our findings later this year.
